Brit Injured As Severe Weather Hits Torremolinos
A British tourist is recovering in a Costa Del Sol hospital after suffering a serious injury when severe weather hit Torremolinos earlier today. 59 year old Eric Clumsea from Doncaster has lost the use of his legs, and may not walk again for two weeks.
Severe Weather
The severe weather struck unexpectedly earlier today when Mr. Clumsea and his wife Alexis, 23, were enjoying a cup of tea on the balcony of their €174 a week apartment in Torremolinos. Local weather experts have described a light breeze which struck the apartment at 2pm as “extremely unusual”.
The light breeze blew a napkin off Mr. Clumsea’s table and onto the imitation marble tiled floor. When he bent over to retrieve the napkin he slipped a disc and emergency services had to be called.
Mrs. Clumsea told Costa Del Sol Update “Ecky thump, you don’t expect it do you? You hear about it happening to other people but you don’t think it will ever happen to you. We were just sat there when the light breeze hit us. It took the napkin right off the table. I don’t know why we weren’t warned. Now my Edward, or Eric, yes, Eric, is in hospital for two weeks. It’s a disgrace. It’s a good job I brought my big coat on holiday.”
Emergency Recovery Fund
A group of well meaning expats have set up an emergency recovery fund to help with the cost of repairing the damage caused by the light breeze, and with Mr. Clumsea’s recovery expenses. If you would like to contribute please click here.
